Russian Knights : I Saw An Angel In the Sky (Intermeso)

The “Russian Knights” (Russikiye Vityazi) are the Russian Air Force aerobatic display team flying Sukhoi SU-27 and Su-27UB fighters. The team normally uses four SU-27 fighters for their demonstrations but this is not always the case. The “Russian Knights” aircraft do not use smoke generators.

The pilots and ground crew on the team are variable but don’t usually have to practice extensively like other aerobatic teams to change their members for some period. All team members are drawn from the 237th Guards Proskurov Aircraft Demonstration Center based in Kubinka Air Base, near Moscow. The pilots permanent duty is fighter training and they routinely perform formation training only days before an airshow. Unfortunately, the team’s public appearances are very rare.
